Hiccup Class (Y4/5) 2026 - 2027

Welcome to Hiccup class!

Hiccup is an inspiration to us because he relies on his curiosity, creativity, empathy and resourcefulness to solve difficult problems. He does not change who he is to fit in, but turns his perceived weaknesses into valuable assets. 

Term 1

The teachers in our class are Miss Gifford, Mrs Clubb and Mrs Game. We are really looking forward to getting to know our new Hiccup class and have lots of fun learning planned! Please see our yearly overview below for more information about the Year 5 curriculum.

PE

Our PE days for this term are Monday and Thursday.

Please ensure that your child wears their PE kit to school on these two days and dresses suitably for the weather as we will usually be outside.

Home learning and reading

The children will be given tasks to consolidate or extend their learning. The children have access to TT Rockstars and Freckle Maths for online learning too. Your child will be assessed in their reading termly and given a book within their zone of proximal development (ZPD). They will complete quizzes once they have finished the book. Please listen to your child read at home and sign their reading record, or encourage them to independently sign. They will be responsible for chooing their own books, we ask their reading records to be in school daily so we can track how they are doing. 

Water bottles and snacks

Please make sure your child has a named water bottle in school every day. We will send them home to be washed and refilled. You can provide a healthy snack for break time too.
