Potter Class (Y5/6) 2024 - 2025
Welcome to term 1!
I hope you had a lovely summer break. Mrs Hughes and I are looking forward to the first term with Potter Class and have lots of exciting things planned for the term ahead.
Please see our class newsletter below for further details about term 1 and to find out more about what your child will be getting up to this term.
Some helpful reminders…
PE
PE will be on Tuesday and Wednesday afternoons this term. Please ensure that your child wears their PE kit to school on these two days (school PE t-shirt, navy shorts and plimsolls or trainers, sunhat and sun cream too as well as warmer clothes i.e. sweatshirts and joggers for outdoor PE - we will be outside for PE as much as we possibly can), thank you!
Reading
In year 6, we LOVE to read!
We ask that you please listen to your child read at home as much as possible and then sign their reading record (or encourage your child to) so we know that they have read. The children will be responsible for changing their own books (under the watchful eye of Mrs Hughes and myself) as well as completing quizzes linked to what they have been reading to assess their comprehension skills. We ask that all reading books are brought into school daily for reading time in school too and we will be looking at their reading records every Friday to see how they are getting on at home.
Thank you for your support.
Home Learning
I will be sending out activities to consolidate and/ or extend the children's learning during this term. Purple Mash, TT Rock Stars, Freckle and MyOn are all available online for extra learning opportunities too, all logins are in the back of your child's reading record.
Water Bottles
Please ensure that your child brings their own (named) water bottle to school each day. We will send them home at the end of every day to be washed and refilled.
Thank you :-)
If you have any questions throughout the year you can contact me on:
Thank you :-)

Here are some useful resources to support your child at home too:
We are delighted to offer the whole school a brand new resource to use in school and at home. MyOn is a bank of digital books of variety of genre.
Encourage your children to login with their user names and password and get reading. There will be projects for them to enter into for their homework linked to the reading they can do in the program.
